“Hellboy 2”

The character design, make-up work, and props in this movie are incredibly well done. And the scene where Hellboy and Abe are singing “Can’t Smile Without You” is amazing.

“Dark Passage” (1947)
This film is really interesting. Huge chunks of it are filmed in the first person, and its use of plastic surgery is treated with an almost sci-fi reverence.
Parry: “Same eyes. Same nose. Same hair. Everything else seems to be in a different place. I sure look older. That’s all right, I’m not. If it’s all right with me, it ought to be all right with you.”

Eugene Zamyatin- “WE”
Marc over at Bucket O’ Blood Books & Records suggested this book to me, and it’s really interesting. It’s a Russian dystopian novel published in the 1920’s, and is widely accepted as having been part of the inspiration for “Brave New World”. I can’t stress enough that it’s really EXCELLENT and arguably more effective than Brave New World. Check it out!!
